Beyond Blood Tests: Why Continuity of Care Matters
A new partnership between My Atlas and Vista Health to help bridge the gap between blood testing and further diagnostic investigation.
28 Jul 2026
Blood tests are one of the most valuable tools in modern healthcare.
They can identify nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, organ health concerns and many other physiological changes – often before symptoms become more severe.
But whilst blood testing can provide important answers, it can also raise new questions.
Sometimes the next step isn’t another blood test. It’s understanding why a result has changed, where symptoms are coming from, or whether further investigation is appropriate.
At My Atlas, we’ve always believed healthcare shouldn’t end with a laboratory report.
That’s why we’re proud to announce our partnership with Vista Health, allowing us to support clients with access to further diagnostic imaging when clinically appropriate.
Blood Work Is Often the Beginning, Not the End
Many health conditions require more than laboratory analysis alone.
Blood tests can indicate that something deserves further investigation, but they cannot always visualise what is happening inside the body.
For example, blood work may identify:
- Raised inflammatory markers
- Hormonal abnormalities
- Iron deficiency or unexplained anaemia
- Changes in liver function
- Altered thyroid markers
- Cardiovascular risk factors
- Abnormal kidney function
- Persistent symptoms despite normal blood result
These findings don’t necessarily provide a diagnosis.
Instead, they often help clinicians determine what should happen next.
That next step may involve diagnostic imaging.
Why Diagnostic Imaging Matters
Medical imaging allows healthcare professionals to examine organs, tissues and body structures that cannot be assessed through blood tests alone.
Depending on your clinical history, symptoms and laboratory findings, further investigation may help identify structural changes or rule out underlying conditions.
Through our partnership with Vista Health, My Atlas can now help coordinate referrals for a wide range of imaging services, including:
- MRI scans
- CT scans
- Ultrasound examinations
- Echocardiograms
- Specialist diagnostic imaging
With more than 60 locations across the UK, imaging can often be arranged at a location convenient for you.
When Might Imaging Be Recommended?
Every individual is different, and imaging should only be requested when clinically appropriate.
Examples where additional investigation may be beneficial include:
Ongoing Hormonal Symptoms
Blood tests may suggest hormonal imbalance, but pelvic or ovarian ultrasound imaging can sometimes provide additional information when investigating conditions such as ovarian cysts, polycystic ovarian morphology (PCOM), fibroids or other gynaecological concerns.
Cardiovascular Assessment
Certain blood markers can indicate increased cardiovascular risk, but blood testing cannot assess heart structure or function.
An echocardiogram or other cardiac imaging may be appropriate when symptoms or clinical history suggest further investigation is required.
Persistent Abdominal Symptoms
Blood markers may indicate inflammation or altered liver function, yet abdominal ultrasound or MRI imaging can provide additional insight into the liver, gallbladder, pancreas or kidneys.
Musculoskeletal or Neurological Symptoms
Persistent pain, neurological symptoms or unexplained functional changes may require MRI or CT imaging to investigate structures that blood testing cannot assess.
Connecting the Dots
Healthcare works best when different pieces of information are considered together.
Blood tests provide biochemical insight.
Clinical history provides context.
Symptoms explain how you’re feeling.
Imaging helps visualise what’s happening anatomically.
None of these should exist in isolation.
At My Atlas, we believe the most meaningful healthcare comes from connecting these pieces rather than relying on a single test result.
Reducing Uncertainty
One of the most common concerns we hear from clients is:
“My blood results show something isn’t quite right… what do I do next?”
Without a clear pathway, many people are left trying to navigate referrals themselves, unsure whether further investigation is needed or where to access it.
Our partnership with Vista Health helps remove some of that uncertainty by allowing us to coordinate appropriate referrals when indicated as part of your healthcare journey.
Rather than simply providing blood test results, we aim to help clients understand what those results mean—and, importantly, what happens next.
Our Commitment to Continuity of Care
This partnership reflects something we’ve always believed at My Atlas.
Healthcare shouldn’t stop once your results arrive.
It should continue through appropriate interpretation, evidence-based recommendations and, where clinically indicated, further investigation.
Whether your next step is lifestyle intervention, repeat testing, referral to a specialist or advanced imaging, our goal is to help guide that process with clarity and clinical reasoning.
Because understanding your health is rarely about one isolated result.
It’s about building the bigger picture.
Need Further Investigation After Your Blood Test?
If your blood work, symptoms or clinical history suggest that additional diagnostic imaging may be appropriate, the My Atlas team can help coordinate referrals through our partnership with Vista Health.
Whether you’re looking for answers, reassurance or greater clarity, we’re here to help guide you through the next stage of your healthcare journey.
At My Atlas, we believe better healthcare doesn’t end with a blood test – it begins with understanding what comes next.
