Adiponectin is a hormone produced by fat cells that helps regulate insulin sensitivity, glucose control, fat metabolism and inflammation.

Higher levels are generally associated with better metabolic health, while lower levels can be linked with insulin resistance, visceral fat, type 2 diabetes and increased cardiovascular risk.
