F: Prolactin is a hormone responsible for lactation, breast development, and hundreds of other actions needed to maintain normal bodily function.

M: Prolactin is a sex hormone produced by the pituitary gland, typically exists in low levels in men.

Progesterone

F: Progesterone is a sex hormone produced in the adrenal glands and ovaries, it plays an important role in regulating menstruation and pregnancy.

M: Progesterone is a sex hormone produced by adrenal glands and testes in males, necessary for spermatogenesis binds testosterone

Pro-BNP

NT-proBNP are hormones produced by the heart, specifically the ventricles, when they are stretched or under pressure, the test is used to assess cardiac function.

Pregnenolone

F: Pregnenolone is a steroid hormone that plays a key role in the production of other hormones, including progesterone, DHEA, and oestrogen.

M: Pregnenolone is a steroid hormone that plays a key role in the production of other hormones, including progesterone, DHEA, and oestrogen.

Potassium

A mineral that helps your heart, muscle and nerves function properly.

Phosphate

A mineral that helps build strong bones and teeth, produce energy, and repair cells and tissues.

Parathyroid Hormone (PTH)

A parathyroid hormone (PTH) blood test measures the level of PTH in your blood, which is crucial for regulating calcium and phosphorus levels.

Pancreatic Amylase

Amylase is an enzyme that helps the body digest carbohydrates. It’s produced in the pancreas and salivary glands. It’s primarily used to help diagnose and monitor pancreatic disorders, particularly pancreatitis.

Omega 3:6

An omega-6 to omega-3 ratio is an important health marker because it can indicate the level of inflammation in your body, with a high ratio (more omega-6 than omega-3) potentially contributing to chronic inflammation

Oestradiol (E2)

F: In females, oestradiol interacts with the hypothalamus and pituitary gland to control the development of the follicle, ovulation and the menstrual cycle.

M: Oestradiol is a form of oestrogen, in men it is essential for modulating libido, erectile function, and spermatogenesis.

Non-Esterified Fatty Acids

NEFA tests specifically measure the amount of free fatty acids in the blood. These are fatty acids that are not bound to glycerol in triglycerides.

Myoglobin

A protein found in your muscles that helps store and carry oxygen so your muscles can make energy and work properly

Monocyte Chemotactic Protein-1 (MCP-1)

Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 (MCP-1) blood test measures the levels of MCP-1, a type of chemokine, in the blood. MCP-1 plays a role in inflammation and the recruitment of monocytes to sites of inflammation.

Microalbumin/Creatinine Ratio

A urine test that checks for early signs of kidney damage.

Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)

Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) is a protein that helps break down and remodel tissues in the body. It plays an important role in healing and immune responses but can also be involved in inflammation and certain diseases when levels are too high.

Magnesium

A mineral in the body that is needed hundreds of processes to keep the body healthy.

Macrophage Inflammatory Protein (MIP-1a)

Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-1 alpha (MIP-1α) is a signaling protein released by immune cells during inflammation. It helps attract other immune cells to areas of infection or injury and plays a role in how the body responds to disease

Luteinising Hormone (LH)

F: In females, LH stimulates the ovaries to produce oestradiol, triggering ovulation and development of the corpus luteum.

M: In males, Luteinising hormone stimulates Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone, which acts locally to support sperm production.

Lipoprotein (a)

Lipoprotein (a) helps carry cholesterol through your bloodstream to your cells. High Lp(a) levels are associated with increased risk of atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in arteries), heart attacks, and strokes.

Lipase

Lipase is an enzyme produced by the pancreas and helps break down fats in your diet. Elevated lipase levels can indicate pancreatitis or other pancreatic issues.

Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH)

This important enzyme, present in most body tissues, can indicate tissue damage when elevated, making LDH a key general health marker.

Iron

A mineral the body needs to make haemoglobin, a substance in the blood that carries oxygen from the lungs to the body.

Intrinsic Factor Antibodies

Intrinsic Factor Antibodies are proteins your immune system may produce that attack a key substance called intrinsic factor, which helps your body absorb vitamin B12. Testing for these antibodies can help diagnose pernicious anemia, a condition that can lead to vitamin B12 deficiency and cause fatigue, weakness, or nerve problems.

Interleukin-8 (IL-8)

Interleukin-8(IL-8) is a protein your immune system produces during infection or injury to help fight inflammation.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6)

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a protein your immune system produces during infection or injury to help fight inflammation.

Interleukin-2 (IL-2)

Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is a protein produced by your immune system that helps activate and grow immune cells to fight infections and diseases.

Interleukin-1α (IL-1α)

Interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α) is a protein released by your immune cells that helps trigger inflammation and fight infections or injury.

Interleukin-10 (IL-10)

Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is a protein made by your immune system that helps reduce inflammation and keep your immune response balanced. Measuring IL-10 levels can help doctors understand how your body is controlling inflammation, especially in conditions like infections, autoimmune diseases, or chronic inflammation.

Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1)

IGF-1 is a hormone, a chemical messenger in your bloodstream that controls the actions of certain cells or organs. IGF-1 manages the effects of growth hormone (GH) in your body.

Insulin

Insulin is a hormone that your pancreas makes. It helps move blood glucose (blood sugar) from your bloodstream into your cells where it’s used for energy. Testing measures the amount of insulin, the hormone that lets cells take in glucose.

Immunoglobulin G (IgG)

An IgG blood test measures the levels of Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies in your blood, which are part of your immune system’s response to infections.

Immunoglobulin E (IgE)

An IgE blood test, also known as an IgE antibody blood test, is a type of allergy test that measures the levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in your blood.

HPV DNA Screen

An HPV DNA screening test is a test that looks for the presence of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) DNA in cervical cells.

Homocysteine

Homocysteine is an amino acid in the body. A serum test is often used to diagnose vitamin B6, B9 or B12 deficiency. People with elevated homocysteine may have a higher risk for cardiovascular disease.

HIV-1/-2/p24 Antigen

The HIV 1 & 2 Antibodies + p24 Antigen test is a blood test that is used to check for the presence of HIV antibodies and a specific protein called p24 antigen in the body. HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system and can lead to AIDS if left untreated.

High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hsCRP)

The high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) test is a blood test that finds lower levels of C-reactive protein (CRP). Hs-CRP tests can help identify more cardiovascular issues and chronic inflammation over the long term.
